Click here to see some of the poems written by eighth grade students in Mrs. Andrews' classes. They studied forms of traditional poetry such as elegy, limerick, free verse, ode, sonnet, ballad, free verse, haiku, cinquain, and lyric paying close attention to form and structure as well as meaning. In turn, they had to write their own traditional poems that had to revolve around a common theme. While each class has its own distinct personality, this year’s eighth grade wrote about the themes of darkness, animals, vampires, being alone, music, flowers, fast food, growing up, snow, monsters, baseball, soccer, softball, the ocean, motocross, etc. During the month of April, they spent time reading poetry, listening to and analyzing poetry to gather ideas for their own work.
Click here to see the webquests created by 4th and 5th grade students in Ms. Verga's RCS Scholars classes. Students spent the year studying and researching butterflies. Then, they studied numerous butterfly webquests and designed their very own. Students used FrontPage to create their webquests and post them to the Internet.
