The HITTITES

The Hittites were a civilization in Mesopotamia, in fact they were one of the most powerful civilizations in Mesopotamia. The Hittites thrived from 1600-717 BC before they were conquered by the Assyrians and other civilizations. The Hittites adopted gods from people they conquered. The Hittites also adopted laws from the old Babylonians which they greatly modified. The Hittites also spoke Indo-European and were the first-known inhabitants of Turkey. The Hittites invasion of Babylonia (1900-1600 BC) led to the end of Babylonia. The Hittites ruled a large empire from Mesopotamia to Syria and Palestine. The Hittites Language was unreadable for a long time. There is also very little know about the Hittites such as there origin. The Hittites had strong defenses and built small tunnels under there walls so there troops can get out and defend the city.
