Tyre was called “the old old city” by the prophet Isiah. It was also called the fortified city. The city of Tyre was also mentioned in the bible a lot.  The person who assisted David and Solomon during the building of Solomon’s palace was King Hirram I. The achievement of joining together the two islands forming Tyre was King Hirrams I. Tyre was one of the Phoenicians. Tyre was also an ancient Phoenician seaport. The city was controlled by three other cities, Egypt, Assyria, and Babylonia.

Tyre got their food supply from Israel. Some of the foods were figs, olives, honey, and spices. In return the people of Tyre let Isreal use the two major parts of Tyre, the two major parts were the sea routes and its immense amount of timber. In Tyre there was a shipping port that handled goods from Arabia & Mesopotamia.

Tyre’s wealth and power rose their level of pride very high. When they were conquered and they had to pay money they still felt strongly about their country.  The people of Tyre were noted as sailors for their intellectual and cultural activities. Since Tyre was part of Phoenicia they were noted for their famous warships. Tyre had great prosperity.
