Persia lies in the south part of Iran. Iran was known as The Persian Empire from 612 -330 B.C. Persian
History
goes as far back as 6000 B.C.
There
many different languages spoken in Persia. They are Persian, Turkic, Kurdish,
Luri, Arabic, Turkish and other. There are 6 different religions practiced in
Persia. They are Shi’a Muslim, Sunni Muslim, Zoroastrian, Jewish, Christian and
Baha’l. Christianity Spread through Persia along with free building of
churches. Nisisbus became the Christian City.
The Ceremonial Capital (where they celebrated things like Nowruz their New Year) was called Persepolis. The population in 1999 was 65,179,752. 11,963,438 of those people were males and 11,447,191 were females. The people of Persia have a very rich oil. Lucky them! They don’t have to worry about having their oil prices jacked up!
Cyrus the Great was a prince of Mesopotamia. During his time as prince, he ruled Persia and Media. Cyrus wasn’t originally from Persia. He was Cambyses and worshiped Babylonian Gods.
The earliest Persian cities domesticated animals and planted crops like wheat and barley. The most valuable item that the Persians had was the pottery that they made. They hand painted the pottery to decorate it. The Persian herded horses and cattle. The Persians used the valleys and plains for agriculture.
The Persian army marched into Babylon in 539 B.C. and took over the area. People left then area and by 200 A.D. it was deserted. The Persians took over the Phoenician Empire. The Phoenicians were famous for their war ships. Later in Persian history the ships were used to fight Ancient Greece in Sea battles. The Persians eventually lost to the Greeks who took over the entire Persian Empire.
Cyrus the Great ruled Media in the middle of 600 B.C.E. Cyrus crushed the Babylons and the Assyrians. By 546 B.C.E, the Persian Empire almost reached their best. Cyrus took artist and artisans from Babylonia and Egypt to make his palace in a city called Pasargdae. Cyrus aloud the entire Empire to worship any God or Gods that they wanted.
