| Listen and Write | This interactive site, created by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), lets students hear poetry, then create their own. Rap, Wonderwords (helped by The Saurus), and Similes are covered in an entertaining manner. Low and High tech versions are available. |
| Wacky Web Tales | Wacky Web Tales, is a fill-in-the-blanks story creator where readers can submit their own tales or read stories created by the publisher Houghton Mifflin. Included are links to Kids' Clubhouse, Teachers' Center, and Parents' Place. The Teachers' Center provides K-8 resources like activities, lesson plans, interactive games, projects and more from the Mathematics, Reading/Language Arts, Social Studies, or Science Centers. |
| Comic Creator | The Comic Creator invites students to compose their own comic strips for a variety of contexts (prewriting, pre- and postreading activities, response to literature, and so on). The organizers focus on the key elements of comic strips by allowing students to choose backgrounds, characters, and props, as well as to compose related dialogue (shown at left). This versatile tool can be used by students from kindergarten through high school, for purposes ranging from learning to write dialogue to an in-depth study of a formerly neglected genre. |
