The Kassites were brought into focus at one of the most chaotic periods of history. Not much is known about this race originating in a primitive Asian region, but in time there king would sit on the Babylonian throne. Displaced by Indo-European people they moved to Mesopotamia. At this time Mesopotamia was ruled by the Hittites, a successful group people also displaced by the Indo-European people.
The Hittites had ruled but a short time when the Kassites defeated them and captured the Babylonian throne. The Hittites would survive for several more years but they would never again control the center of Mesopotamia. The Kassites now controlled the heart of Mesopotamia, the city of Babylon.
Not much is known about there social structure. However we do know that they were at this time they were the center of Mesopotamia both militarily and commercially. The Kassites built there own capital city from scratch and called it Karanduniash.
Soon, however there rule was defeated. Wave after wave of migrations soon disrupted there tenuous hold on power. The Assyrians soon defeated them and in the 12th century the last Kassite king was driven from the throne.
